Volunteering for the Wells Fargo Championship

In just a couple of weeks one of the most outstanding PGA golf tournaments in the world will be coming to Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Country Club. This is the 11th year for the Wells Fargo Championship and my family looks forward to it every year. I actually volunteer and work the event for a couple of days and it is always fun to get up close with the golfers and I especially enjoy the conversations with the pros and their caddies as we work inside the ropes . I’ll be working as a laser operator and will be on hole number 5 on Thursday and on number 7 on Friday. A couple of years ago Dustin Johnson hit his drive 389 yards on number 5 and the PGA officials in the tower didn’t believe we measured it correctly and sent the Shot Link Officials down to see if we knew what we were doing . It was so funny to see their faces when they realized we had it correct and he had indeed hit it so far.

The Wells Fargo is just another reason why the Charlotte area is such a desirable area to live and people continue to relocate here everyday. If you are out enjoying the golf stop by and say hello and if you are looking to relocate to our area we would be glad to assist you. Give us a call.

Have fun and I’ll see you on the golf course!

Is spring on your mind?

Curb appeal. I am lucky to live in a neighborhood where most of us work hard to have nice curb appeal and an attractive neighborhood. This time of year we all have spring fever and are planning what we need to be doing to get ready for warm weather. Here a few tips to keep in mind as you get your homes ready for spring.

* Prune trees and your shrubs
* Put down lyme and fertilizer in your yard so your yard will be the first to green up this spring
* Spread grass seed if you didn’t do it in the fall
* Be thinking about prepping your flowerbeds with pine straw or mulch
* If you are thinking about adding new plants check with a local nursery for help and guidance before you buy.

Keep in mind that people constantly drive through neighborhoods “looking” to see what is on the market so you want to make sure that your home is attractive and “The One” the people will remember.

Keeping the family together

We work with a lot of clients who move to this area for new careers. Lately, however, we have been working with a number of clients who are relocating to the area to be closer to children and grandchildren. Being close to family is so important and a value that many of us share. This area is a tremendous location to work, raise families and retire and there is so much available for everyone from kids to seniors. If you have family that has mentioned relocating to the area I want to share my website that has numerous useful links may be helpful to gather information on the area and to see what is available in the home market. I am proud of this area and glad to call it home so if I can do anything to help your family move into the area and have a smooth transition please give me a call today.

Best Time To Sell ?….Best Time To Buy?

Clients always ask us two questions.

1. When is the best time to sell a house?
2. When is the best time to buy a house?

There really is no “best” time to buy or sell. The buyers market has been excellent lately, however, due to low inventory on the market in numerous price points now is also an excellent time to sell. If you have been thinking about selling and you have been on the fence now is the time to put your house on the market. There is a tremendous amount of activity in the market and there are a number of people relocating to this area therefore it is a prime time to have your home on the market. Again, homes at every price point are in demand and with the low inventory of available homes your chance of selling has been greatly enhanced , particularly if you have your home priced accurately.

If you are thinking of selling give me a call and let me help you access the market, determine an attractive sell price and let me help you get your house on the market! Now is the time.

Lets start the new year off right

As we prepare for a new year there are several opportunities that people need to consider as part of their financial future.  For many reasons we all believe that the start of a new year is the perfect time to wipe the slate clean and get organized and ready to commit to goals and dreams.  Here are few important things to consider as you enter a new year.

*  Is this the time to refinance?  Interest rates are still at some of the lowest rates ever , but many experts expect the interest rates to begin to climb.

*  Should I consider buying my first home?  Investing in real estate is still one of the most sound investments folks can make

*  Are there advantages to consider in possibly buying a larger home?  With the interest rates still low and many options available for potential buyers now is the perfect time to explore all the many options.

If we can assist you in determining what is the right path to take when it comes to your home options give us a call today and let us help you.  We want to help everyone start the new year with achievable goals and a plan in place.  Best of luck to everyone in 2013!

How To Care For Kitchen Appliances

If you think about it we all have several thousands of dollars invested in household appliances.   The hope is that investing in good quality appliances will result in a longer life for them.   In order to keep household appliances operating in optimal condition try this tips.  If your dishwasher has a strainer or scrap bin in the bottom, clear it before running each load.   Periodically pour vinegar and detergent into the machine and send it through a cleaning cycle.   Pull off your refrigerator vent plate, and use a vacuum hose to clean the condenser coils regularly.   While you’re at it, check the door gasket for damage, and use an all-purpose cleaner to keep it residue-free.  Always run your garbage disposal using cold water.   Grind an ice cube through the unit once a week to help clean and sharpen the blades, and   run orange or lemon peels through the system every month to keep it smelling fresh.

Why “For Sale By Owner” may be a mistake for you

Whenever homeowners are considering selling their home one of the first questions they ask themselves is should they try to do “for sale by owner” instead of listing with a real estate agent.   This is a fair question and many folks think they can manage the process of selling a home on their own while saving commission to a  Realtor.   Many folks who take this path  quickly become disenchanted  with the process and all that is involved in trying to sell their home.  The truth is a real estate agent can help homeowners from the beginning of the process by gathering information such as comps in the area, analyzing home trends, make recommendations to get your home ready to sell and more than anything market your home.   Potential buyers these days are fully utilizing the  internet  to do home searches and folks trying to sell a home on their own will not have the access to meet the mass number of folks that are surfing the  internet  each and every day.  Realtors utilize a number of sites and can make sure your home is being exposed to as many folks as possible. In  addition  the   process of managing showings including having constant access for buyers is very critical in the  selling  process. Buyers will cross homes off their lists quickly if they cant get access to homes on their terms. With the large  inventory  of  homes on the market For Sale by Owners properties can miss out quickly  on  buyers  due to communication issues.    Statistics show that sellers who list with an agent sell their home 20% faster and for a much higher price than those that try to sell themselves.   For sale by owner can work, but you need to understand the pros and cons of the process.   Give us  The  Guilliams  Team  a call today for a free consultation and let us help you determine what is the best way for you to sell your home
